He was born on the 18 th of May, in England. He is a dual citizen of Britain and Nigeria. For the fear of abandoning his Igbo origin, the parents ensured that Kalu relocated to Nigeria at a tender age of 9. He hails from Enugu State, in the south eastern Nigeria. Kalu Ikeagwu has his elementary education in England and Zambia before relocating to Nigeria for his secondary education.

It was a dream come through in the life of Kalu as he had developed a strong passion for acting from at a tender age, acting in drama and stage plays. Kalu had part of his childhood in England. However, his father, fearing that growing up in England might make Kalu forget his Igbo roots, introduced him to literature and make-believe at the age of four and relocated him to Nigeria at the age of 9.

By the time he was ten years of age, he had already lived in four different countries. He had his primary education in England and Zambia and his secondary education in Nigeria. He graduated in with a degree in English from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He also did a postgraduate diploma course on Business Management in the same university, and a diploma in Computer programming.
