From here teachers were trained and licences were given for studios across the country. Pinckney set up a new Manhattan studio in the attic of Carnegie Hall to be run by her student Ruth Jeffries. Over the next 12 months, nine more studios opened in the United States.
In May the Callanetics Franchise Corporation received its first requests from people wanting to set up studios in England and Scotland. By September several more teachers from the UK were trained in Denver with the intention of setting up studios across England. Fourteen studios were opened in Belgium and Switzerland and the Callanetics Franchise Corporation were receiving requests from all over the world.

Loved looking at the history of fitness and was fascinated by all that John has collected to preserve that history!
Thank you John! Living Legend, Dr. I was very pleasantly surprised that it was an extremely happy group of dedicated fitness professionals who showed up. I am, as every one there, just a guy who has had a passion for fitness throughout my entire life. I recognized every one of the fitness gadgets there, and most of the books. Waves of nostalgia were powerfully in the air for everyone there.
The re-opening ceremony was fun too. I learned that the exhibit was closed for a period of time, and I hope it never closes again. Maybe with the generosity and help of other dedicated fitness professionals, it will remain open for all time. It was exceptionally memorable to hang out with all of the former inductees and the current class of I knew most by reputation only, and it was a thrill for me to finally get to meet them in person.
Thank you one and all! Everyone seemed to have a great time during this historic day as several inductees expressed tremendous sentiments of gratitude. It was a fantastic experience. Such an honor to be part of this incredible family of fitness professionals. We sincerely appreciate all you do! I seek to provide some meaningful education, research and impact to my colleagues and students.
In many ways the induction into the National Fitness Hall of Fame is an empowering inspiration for me to continue on this journey. I was amazed to see how strong and tight my body had become. My back had stopped hurting.
Callan pinkney biography
I felt and looked as though I had been exercising for three hours a day for five years after only a few hours of these movements. I concluded that these deli- cate, precise movements are the key to successful exercising. I felt absolutely magnificent, as if I could spring like a majestic gazelle. When Callan began teaching on her own, she instructed students privately in their homes.
We exercised on their living-room floors. I had a barre across my closet door. Students looked at my pitiful wardrobe while they exercised. There was no pulsating music, no shrill cadence called by an instructor. There was no grotesque machinery to make the place look like a modern-day torture chamber. Someone wanders in at seven ten, someone else at seven twenty.
Calian may be having breakfast or putting cream on her face, teaching while still in her nightgown. Despite this chaotic appearance, Callan has her hawkeye on everyone in the room. You see exactly what you look like on the beach and it scares the daylights out of you. The natural light, reflected in the thirteen-foot mirrored walls, and the clear panorama of the city-the sky, rivers and skyscrapers-were magnificent inducements to exercise.
There was always magnetic energy between Callan and her students. It was a powerful combination. Callan Pinckney was a one-of-a-kind woman. All Rights Reserved.
